•Winners make commitments; losers make promises.
•Winners are a part of the team; losers are apart from the team.
•Winners always have a goal; losers always have an excuse.

•Winners are always a part of the answer; losers are always a part of the problem.
•Winners see an answer for every problem; losers see a problem for every answer.
•Winners believe in win-win; losers believe for them to win; someone has to lose.
•Winners say, “It may be difficult but it is possible”; losers say, “It may be possible but it is too difficult”.
•Winners make mistakes. They say, “I was wrong”; losers make mistakes. They say, “It wasn’t my fault”.

Let Life Educate Us

When i believe I CAN, I CAN!! Its NOT because things are difficult for you to try. Its because YOU ONLY TRY that thing become difficult. SUCCESS really is a RESULT of CONSTANT CORRECTION and IMPROVEMENT.

It was through realization of what we can achieve and not what we cannot achieve we can accomplish a lot of things in life. The creation of mission board (things that you want to achieve in life) is very powerful to have the state of realization of what life can offer us. In the end, "what mind can conceive, we can achieve".

This was the picture during the Offsite Meeting in Meritus Resort & SPA in Langkawi (We had a Pirate Theme Dinner). It was during my professional life in banking (this one with one of the middle eastern banks in Malaysia) i had learnt that life isn't about 9-5 job (most of the time, it extend far beyond 5) . It supposed to offer a lot more than earn a living. Its about living a dream by accomplishing it shortest time possible.

Being rich and able to afford all the luxuries life can offer are not important. What is important is striving, learning and doing your best to develop your personal power to afford the luxuries. It is who you become in the process of affording the luxuries that is important.

Story 2

Three Feet From Gold

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one overtaken by temporary defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake at one time or another.

An uncle of R.U Darby was caught by the "gold fever" in the gold-rush days, and went west to DIG AND GROW RICH.

He had never heard that more gold has been mined from the brains of men than has ever been taken from the earth. He staked a claim and went to work with pick and shovel. The going was hard, but his lust for gold was definite.

After weeks of labour, he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface. Quietly, he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Williamsburg, maryland, told his relatives and a few neighbour of the "strike". They got together money for the needed machinery, had it shipped. The uncle and Darby went back to work the mine.

The first car of ore was mined, and shipped to a smelter. They returns proved thay had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would clear the debts. Then would come the killing in profits.

Down went the drill! Up went the hopes of Darby and uncle! Then something happened! The vein of gold ore dissappeared! They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there! They drilled on desperately trying to pick up the vein again, all to no avail. Finally they decided to QUIT. They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars, then took the trian back home. Some "junk" men are dumb, but not this one. He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed, because the owners were not familiar with ''fault lines''. His calculations showed that the vein would be found JUST THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE DARBYS HAD STOPPED DRILLING! That was exactly where it was found!

The "Junk" man took a million of dolars in ore from the mine, because he knew enough to seek the expert counsel before giving up. Most of the money which went into the machinery was procured thru the effort of R.U Darby, who was then a very young men. The money came from his relatives and neighbour because of faith in him. He paid back every dollar of it, although he was years in doing so. Long afterward, Mr Darby recouped his loss many times over, when he made the dicovery the DESIRE can be transmuted into gold. The discovery came after he went into the business of selling life insurance.

Remembering that he lost a huge fortune, because he STOPPED three feet from gold, Darby profited by the experience in his chosen work, by the simple method of saying to himself, "I stopped three feet from gold, but i will never stop because men say 'no' when I ask them to buy insurance".

Before success comes in any men's life, he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and perhaps some failure. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and the most logical thing to do is QUIT. That is exactly what the majority of men do.

More than five hundred of the most successful men in this country has ever known, told the author their greatest success came just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them. Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach.

Gambate Kudasai Tosh!!

Namaewa Tosh Desu (My name is Tosh). This was how Toshiharu Takeda introduced himself when i first reported duty for my first job.

He was a very very hardworking and discipline guy. Normal for a Japanese guy but quite 'extreme' compared to Malaysians. I still remember there was one occasion where we had a blackout in our dept. However, there was still one live plug point which was on backup power. He bought like 5 or 6 extension wires for us to continue our work when all other people including bosses took that opportunity to 'chill' out for awhile. :)

However, i learnt a lot from him during his posting here in Malaysia (he was a representative and our advisor from UFJ Bank Ltd, Japan). He returned to Japan in 2004 quiting from UFJ Bank to manage his family business. Good luck in your business endeavor, gambate kudasai, Tosh!!

I felt very honour when he flew from Japan just to attend my wedding reception here in Malaysia (Actually, i was not expecting him to come when i just emailed to let him know of my wedding).

To my surprise, he came together with his family! Thank you so much Tosh.

My Mentor

I had the chance to be exposed to Japanese way of doing business in my previous employment too.

This includes receiving personal guidance from Japanese Executive Director i.e Mr Koichi Takano (far right). He was my mentor who guided me the way to handle the ever demanding Japanese corporate customers. Arigatou Takano San!! He already returned to Japan to head the international banking in Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi-UFJ, Tokyo. Hope to pay you a visit sometime soon, Takano San.

Thru exposure to Japanese businesses i can sum up that the Japanese way of doing business; strong discipline, dedication and relentless quest for Kaizen (daily pursuit of perfection) makes them highly successful wherever they are.

Valuable Quote

"Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. When you work hard on your job, you make a living. When you work hard on yourself, you can make a fortune" - Jim Rohn

Story 1

A number of years ago two men came here from Cuba.

There are thousands of people who risk their lives on tiny little crafts to make it to America every year, but let's just focus on two of them.

They both arrived here on the same day, a new life in front of them. One of them was a dishwasher who worked at a hotel in Havana. He somehow managed to steal $500,000 from the guests who stayed at that hotel and make it ashore with all that cash on him.

The other one barely made it alive on an inner tube with absolutely nothing but the tattered clothes on his back. Not a single penny. But this guy was a brain surgeon in Cuba. One of the best, in fact.

Now imagine 5 years have gone by.

Where's the dishwasher? The one who came here "rich?"

Most likely he's broke and living on the streets. Or perhaps in jail. Maybe even dead.

You see when he got here, he probably carelessly spent all his money on luxury cars, houses, drugs, partying and other impractical things. Once he ran out, the only skill he had to make more money with was washing dishes. But after having a taste of "the good life," there was no way he could go back to doing that. So he probably turned to crime and eventually wound up living in a 6 x 6 cell.

The other guy - the one who came here with "nothing" - has a great house in an upscale neighborhood, a wonderful family, a nice car and in general, a very prosperous life.

Why?Because he came here with the only real wealth, the only true financial security there is in life......

....the kind that's between your ears!

And no matter how broke he temporarily was, he would always be able to pull himself out of that situation.

You can do the same if you acquire skills that are highly valuable. And as we've discovered, there are no skills more valuable than those of sales and marketing!
